Surat is a lecturer of the department of mechanical engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. He is the head of Locate, Localization & Tracking laboratory. His research projects include localization and tracking of mobile robots and pedestrians position, human-robot interaction and outdoor gaming.

He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
